REAR ADM. S. FRANK GALLO, USN ’57 AND JOANNE B. GALLO SCHOLARSHIP Rear Adm. Frank, USN ’57 and JoAnne Gallo Frank and JoAnne Gallo have created an endowed scholarship to benefit a member of the Regiment of Cadets. GIL-BAR INDUSTRIES SUMMER SEA TERM SCHOLARSHIP Gil-Bar Industries The fund was created by Gil-Bar Industries to establish a scholarship to be used for summer sea term to benefit members of the Regiment of Cadets who display strong communications skills. MICHAEL GEORGIADIS SCHOLARSHIP Michael and Arlene Georgiadis This fund was established by Michael Georgiadis, a Greek native who settled in the United States and had a career in shipping and shipbuilding, and his wife Arlene Georgiadis. This endowed fund supports scholarships for second or third class cadets enrolled in Marine Engineering and the U.S. Coast Guard license program who display high academic achievement and verified financial need. HEITMEIER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FUND Capt. Cody MS’07 and Sylvia Heitmeier Established by the Heitmeier’s, this fund will be used to provide scholarships to graduate students in the Regiment of Cadets pursuing a U.S. Coast Guard license. Michael English ’90 and Horizon Engineering Established by Michael English and Horizon Engineering, this fund will provide scholarship support to full-time sophomores or juniors enrolled in the U.S. Coast Guard license program who are majoring in engineering and interested in pursuing careers in facilities engineering. THE HORIZON ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

CAPT. STEVEN A. JENNINGS ’37 SAILING SCHOLARSHIP This fund was established to support a scholarship for a member of the Regiment of Cadets.

THOMAS ’76 AND KATHLEEN MERRELL SCHOLARSHIP Capt. Thomas ’76 and Kathleen Merrell Capt. Thomas and Kathleen Merrell established this fund to support a scholarship to benefit high achieving members of the Regiment of Cadets. DONALD J. PENNIALL ’49 ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Donald Penniall ’49 A longtime supporter of the Admiral’s Dinner, Mr. Penniall provided for this scholarship fund to be established through his will so his support of Fort Schuyler students would continue forever. With a bequest in 2022, the scholarship will now be awarded as he designed, to support high achieving out-of-state students in the undergraduate program. PRESIDENT’S CIRCLE SCHOLARSHIP Multiple Donors This fund, established with donations from alumni and friends, supports student scholarships. ROVERY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP Jill and William Mullen Jill and William Mullen established this fund to benefit an incoming or existing student pursuing a degree in any major who displays a documented financial need. MARITIME MILITARY VETERAN SCHOLARSHIP Roger Restaino ’86 and Miriam G. Martinez Established by Roger Restaino and Miriam Martinez, this fund provides scholarship support to full-time students in the U.S. Coast Guard license program who served on active duty with the U.S. armed forces.

The principal of these funds is used to generate income for scholarships, department chairs or other program assistance of your choosing. The funds will benefit a student who exemplifies Capt. Peter van Leeuwen’s legacy. books or other items of equipment necessary for a nautical education. THE SURFACEBLOW FUND Bart Eckhardt ’79 and Bonnie Johnson and Dr. Brian Dengel ’79 This fund, established by Bart Eckhardt and his wife Bonnie Johnson, is dedicated to the engineering faculty past, present and future at SUNY Maritime College. The funds are used by the Engineering Department to promote a viable learning connection between theory and practice by supporting engineering laboratories. ARTHUR M. TODE 1912 SCHOLARSHIP Arthur M. Tode 1912 Arthur M. Tode, alumnus, instructor and chief engineer of the training ship, established this endowed scholarship that provides support for students studying at Maritime College. CAPT. PETER VAN LEEUWEN SST SCHOLARSHIP van Leeuwen Family To honor the legacy of Captain Peter van Leeuwen, who embodied a strong, caring

Patricia and William McCarthy and their family and friends established a need-based endowed scholarship in memory of their son, William McCarthy ’07, whose life was cut short in 2006 while on summer sea term. The scholarship benefits members of the Regiment of Cadets. DR. THOMAS J. MACKELL JR. SCHOLARSHIP OFFICER’S DEFENSE FUND Members of the board of the Officer’s Defense Fund The members of the board of the Officer’s Defense Fund established this fund in memory of Dr. Thomas J. Mackell Jr. to support a scholarship to benefit high achieving incoming freshmen with a family connection to the maritime industry. CLAY MAITLAND SCHOLARSHIP IN INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORTATION Clay Maitland H’07 Clay Maitland established this endowed scholarship for the benefit of students in the Master of Science degree program in International Transportation Management. DR. JOSEPH G. MCNEILL ’48 DISTINGUISHED ENGINEERING SPEAKER SERIES FUND The McNeill Family Established by the McNeill family in honor of Dr. McNeill’s 90 th birthday, his 70 th reunion anniversary, his 35-year career teaching at Maritime and his lifelong commitment to teaching excellence, this fund enables the Department of Engineering to bring speakers to discuss a wide range of topics in engineering and its role in society.
