This 36-hour event attracted over 100 developers, designers and domain experts, and gave them rare access to top maritime industry and tech executives, investors and entrepreneurs. Together they worked on building commercially viable solutions for the maritime industry and collaborated to design solutions to tackle a variety of industry problems and data sets. Among the challenges participants addressed were understanding how matching learning and data analytics can be used to optimize energy consumption, reduce emissions and provide savings, and whether predictive analytics or machine learning can be applied to shorten the time an ocean shipment travels from its point of origin to its destination. “We are at the beginning of a huge innovation evolution with great potential to develop global partnerships,” stated Dr. Clott.
