SUNY Maritime College Annual Report 2018-2019

Letter from THE PRESIDENT

O ur primary focus throughout the past fiscal year was implementing our strategic plan, “Charting a New Course.” In this Report, we highlight some of the many accomplishments that have advanced our six strategic goals: Achieve New Heights of Academic Excellence; Empower a Maritime College Faculty for the Future; Cultivate Strong External Partnerships; Champion Diversity and Inclusion; Foster a Vibrant Student Life Experience; and Realize Our Future. As you read on, you will learn about our students, both regimental and civilian, who are achieving success through academic programs that incorporate applied learning opportunities, engagement with faculty, extracurricular activities, and support programs that assist those who are economically disadvantaged. Faculty are collaborating on interdisciplinary projects and our partnerships with top industry leaders continues to expand. Consequently, the strategic plan has brought about an increase in grants, capital investments by SUNY and increased philanthropy. This financial underpinning is essential as we work towards realizing our long term vision of modernizing our academic programs and support services, facilities, recruiting, and student life programming. In doing so, we ensure Maritime College remains relevant, attracts and retains the best faculty, and becomes the college of choice for the best and brightest students. Thank you for your support. I look forward to continuing this voyage with you.

. . . we ensure Maritime College remains relevant, attracts and retains the best faculty, and becomes the college of choice for the best and brightest students.

RADM Michael A. Alfultis, USMS, Ph.D. President
