Dear Friends and Supporters, On behalf of the Board of Directors of the SUNY Maritime Foundation, it is our great pleasure to present on the previous pages, the fundraising results for fiscal year 2019. The SUNY Maritime Foundation is at an exciting moment in time, we are making notable progress supporting the implementation of the College’s strategic plan; assisting with plans for a new training ship to arrive in 2022; and expanding engagement with alumni and friends who share our belief in the College and value the education it provides future leaders of industry. Throughout this Annual Report we see that the students and faculty at Maritime College are extremely busy in and out of the classroom, engaged in numerous activities, and making strong connections with the world around them and especially with the industries in which we all serve. Also captured throughout the Report are the many ways that donations to the Foundation impact every aspect of the student experience. There are multiple areas where the Foundation is responsibly applying donations to advance specific goals of the strategic plan. One item we are particularly excited about is the Port Security Boat purchased last year by the Foundation. This vessel is being used by the Marine Transportation Department and Small Vessel Club to provide cadets with much needed small boat handling practice. The investment in this boat was made possible through unrestricted donations from donors like you. Thanks to your generosity, philanthropy to the College increased over 11% from the prior year. Total gifts from individuals (alumni, parents and friends) increased by 20%, and dollars donated by alumni increased by 34%. Alumni participating in the prestigious Admiral’s Council, a $1,000+ giving society, increased by 79% and dollars donated by alumni members of the Council accounted for 85% of all alumni donations, an increase of 80% from last year. The increased financial support from alumni, industry partners, parents and friends is a good indicator of the confidence you have in the Foundation. We truly value your commitment and dedication to Fort Schuyler and extend our utmost gratitude for your involvement.

Sincerely,

Robert Johnston ’69 Chairman SUNY Maritime Foundation

John Bree ‘78 Vice Chairman SUNY Maritime Foundation
