’ 79 Perseverance paid off for Joe Cavallo ’79 as he managed to score a ticket to witness the
commissioning of the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28) on July 30, 2022, at her namesake city. Retired CFA, Joe served 15 years as a merchant mariner, attended graduate school and practiced tax and finance. He is seen here in 1979 beside the TS Empire State V, and again 43 years later astern the Fort Lauderdale.

Congratulations to Stephen Kretzmer
tanker at the Houston Maritime Center in September. The presentation, “The T2 Tankers that Helped Win World War II,” focused on the design, construction and contribution of T2s, best known for supplying vital fuel to U.S. Navy vessels during WWII and later. Hames, who sailed on a T2, acknowledged Professor John Rocco and Senior Lecturer Ira Breskin for assisting with the project. Seventy attendees participated in person and online. ’93 on his promotion to President of The Fulcrum Group, building efficiency consultants in New York City. Stephen will continue to bring leadership and technical excellence to Fulcrum’s most prestigious client engagements. He will lead Fulcrum’s Project
and Engineering team, mentoring the firm’s next generation of professionals, and enhancing his team’s reach into new and existing client relationships. He will have broad oversight of the company’s ongoing client service operations, with a particular emphasis on work in the tri state region.
