Maritime Academic Center Names Office in Honor of ANDREW WOWCZUK ’69 Andrew Wowczuk ’69 and members of his family gathered on campus on June 17, for a special Office Naming Ceremony in his honor. Wowczuk is a world expert/thought leader in implementing Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies for the manufacturing and military services industries. In 2020, his son Zenovy made a generous donation of $50,000 to the NY Maritime Innovation Center at Maritime College in his father’s honor.

Wowczuk and his family were treated to a tour of the College and campus grounds. The family was then led to the third floor of the

Maritime Academic Center to unveil the plaque on the newly named office (previously #319). Professor Chris Clott of the NY Maritime Innovation Center and Provost of Maritime College, Dr. Jennifer Waters, offered brief thank you remarks to Wowczuk. “Your generosity has made Maritime College a better institution and I thank you for your contribution and support of the College,” stated Dr. Waters. Wowczuk’s son, Yurij, offered his remarks on the role Maritime College played in his father’s life saying, “I appreciate the role that SUNY Maritime played in our upbringing. My father pushed us in the direction of STEAM and STEM programs, and that had an incredible bearing on our success in school and professionally.”

On May 18, Michael J. Isernia, Esq. ‘85 (first left), was elected to the Board of Education for the Sachem Central School District at Lake Ronkonkoma, NY. He will serve for a three-year term beginning July 1. ’ 85
