ANCIENT MARINER GOLF OUTING Takes Place Despite the Rain

BY MATTHEW BONVENTO

Regardless of the misty morning and chill in the air, the maritime experience continued on October 15 at the Ancient Mariner Golf Outing held in the Clearview Golf Course. The golf course, a stone’s throw from Fort Schuyler, brought familiar faces together – some alumni, others friends – across the sound for a day of fun in support of the Maritime College Alumni Association. Following the mask rules and social distancing requirements, the dedicated golfers faced the cold and wetness. As the rain grew progressively worse, some left early while the brave successfully completed all 18 holes. After enjoying several rounds, a hearty luncheon was provided by Maritime College Alumni Association President John Valvo ‘83. This year, over $7,400 was raised – only $300 less than last year – proving that regardless of the weather conditions, alumni always come out in force to support a good cause. Funds raised go towards supporting the mission of the alumni association, assisting cadets in need.
